Description

A fabulous example of Ancient Greek art, this most unusual Canosan Volute Krater has a rearing horse drawing a chariot bearing a winged human figure. Superimposed on the chariot is a medallion with a human visage, possibly Medusa. Buffware bulbous body, waisted neck and bilinear rim, two strap handles to the sides with large discoid terminals on the rim, radiating black lines to the foot, band of black ovolo motifs to the shoulder and rosette designs to the discs, on a pedestal base.
