Description

A fine example of a hollow cast bronze depiction of the Buddha seated atop a multi-tiered lotus throne. Buddha is depicted with an oval face and serene features, with large closed eyes, prominent nose and mouth. He has a tall ushnisha, signaling his enlightened status. His ears are long, emphasizing his wealth when he was Prince Siddhartha; they stretched from the weight of heavy earrings. Buddha's hands are in the Bhumisparsa or "earth witness" mudra, and he is seated in half lotus position.
