Acquired by the present owner at the Drouot auction house in Paris in the 80’s. Previously in an old French collection as evidenced by the collection label on the bottom.

Description

This handsome heavy bowl was found in northern Gaul. It is covered in a pleasing green patina. The sides are almost vertical. Traces of tinning. The edges of the rim are drilled to support two decorative handles on each rivet. Old French collection tag on the bottom with complete description.
