Condition: Excellent, the 16 marks around the upper rim were from when the jar was fired upside down in the kiln and were made by the supports, 16 in this case instead of the normal 4-6, because this is a really big piece, and difficult to fire as perfectly as this

Description
A lovely light green glazed Storage Jar Granary with Figure of a tiger in an upper panel. Also 4 panels contain writing, some dating it precisely to the Song dynasty. One says this vessel was placed on the west side of the doorway. The vessel on the other side would have had a dragon on it. The panel between the two arched panels containing writing shows a formidable pair of typical Chinese doors of that period, with a section of roof above.
Not only is this a beautiful example of the lovely Song pottery that displays well, it is a historically important piece, with considerable writing on it.
