Description
A very large and important Ancient Chinese marble sculpture of two Guan Yin, the bodhisattva associated with compassion and venerated by Mahayana Buddhists and followers of Chinese folk religions. Also known as the "Goddess of Mercy" in English. These figures were ranked in importance one level below the Buddha. "Enlightened Ones" who have attained a state of perfect knowledge or wisdom, combined with infinite compassion, the perfect antidote to ignorance and suffering. Serene visage, eyes half closed, elongated ear lobes. Exquisite detail.
