Description
Obv: head of deified Alexander the Great. Rx: of King Lysimachus. Tetra means four; a tetradrachma was worth 4 drachmas. Lysimachus was one of Alexander's generals who took over the kingdom of Thrace in northern Greece when Alexander died. He used the mint of Lampsakos 305-281 BCE to attempt legitimacy, creating coins with his visage.
