Description
Magnificent large depiction of a season of the year. The portraits surrounding the central visage are exquisite examples of micro-mosaic. The Romans enjoyed placing mosaics of the four seasons around a central motif on their floors particularly in a very luxurious villa dining room. This example has many expensive glass tesserae which enhanced the coloring of the stone. This mosaic is one of the finest on the art market today. It affords an extraordinary opportunity to own a world class mosaic at a reasonable price. Mounted on honeycomb.
