Description
Magnificent large floor panel depiction of a season of the year in the original matrix. Foliage wreath, peplos gown. The portraits surrounding the central visage are exquisite examples of micro-mosaic tesserae. The Romans enjoyed placing mosaics of the four seasons around a central motif on their floors. They were partial to their placement in a very luxurious villa dining salon. This example has many expensive glass tesserae which enhance the coloring. This mosaic is one of the finest on the art market today. It affords an extraordinary opportunity to own a world class mosaic at a reasonable price. Mounted on honeycomb.
