Description
This wonderful burnished and painted twin handled vessel from the Neolithic Period is baked pottery. From the Banshan/Machang Province transitional type of Majayao Culture. The design was said to be the earliest depiction of the human form on a vessel - the Shaman's hands. A strong flanged neck is supported by broad shoulders rounding to a graceful body with small handles at the greatest circumference. The lower part of the body tapers to a flat base, entirely undecorated showing the smooth orange-buff coloured ware.
